REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, technical and/or operations experience is required
  • Experience programming in Rslogix 500 & 5000, HMI RSView SE & ME, Wonderware, is required
  • In depth knowledge and experience with PLCs/PCs, electrical systems, instrumentation, motor controls systems and project management in a regulated environment (GMP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial networking as well as IT systems
  • Previous experience with equipment commissioning, validation and troubleshooting is required
  • Previous experience with SCADA and OSI Pi deployment is an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding and familiarity with equipment used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Commissioning, Qualification, & Validation strategies in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computer based programs including email, word processing and databases.
  • Experience and familiarity with Facility construction projects would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget - project management skills.
  • Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a self-starter, persuasive and flexible in actions and willing to assume leadership of projects as required.
  • Track record of individual initiative and innovation which produced business results
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Effectively managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Exposure to mechanical and electrical AUTOCAD

Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer – Manufacturing & Automation you will be responsible for leading and approving the design, selection, testing, installation and qualifications of equipment and associated systems in Packaging and Processing for Kenvue Canada, Inc.
This includes, but is not limited to, new equipment/system installation, replacement of existing equipment/systems, decommissioning and removal of existing equipment/systems, and upgrades to existing equipment/systems.
This person will be responsible for developing project scope, user requirements, time-lines and budgets, qualification plans, approving equipment and systems specifications and documentation to meet current company, corporate and government requirements.
In addition, the successful candidate will have sufficient knowledge of and expertise in automated control systems to be the primary engineering resource for Automation, deploying OSI Pi and similar enterprise systems to the manufacturing equipment.
In this capacity, the Project Engineer will provide technical expertise to other site stakeholders to help determine a standard and strategic approach to any factory floor automation initiatives.
Will also provide technical support required by Engineering to define appropriate integration of new and existing systems as necessary.
This is a technical role involving limited application administration and programming.
Key Responsibilities

Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, provincial and local laws/regulations, the Companies’ policies, procedures and guidelines:

  • Demonstrates Project Management skills to deliver medium-complexity projects on time and on budget, from concept through post implementation, with minimal supervision
  • Manages, plans and executes automation assignments generally involving complex projects.
  • Collaborates with Business Unit Managers to determine Technical and Business Objectives to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements, budgets and schedules.
  • Monitor project status and maintain budget and schedule using tools provided
  • Verify that all computer systems are developed and implemented in compliance with Company policies and procedures, FDA regulations, cGMPs, and are validated as necessary
  • Ensure that software applications are consistent with the Electronic Records & Signature regulation requirements for audit trails, security, backup, and retention
  • Participate the identification, evaluation, selection, and implementation of third-party systems
  • Install, configure, and provide troubleshooting support for application systems
  • Provides direction to both internal and external resources
  • Prepare, review, lead and support execution of Equipment Commissioning & Qualification protocols as required.
  • Build cross-functional working relationships with Quality, Maintenance, Reliability, and Operations teams to drive stakeholder engagement and end-to-end project success.
  • Generate equipment specifications, review quotes, recommend technical solutions
  • Prepare business cases to support Capital projects and present to all levels of management
  • Act as a mentor and coach for other engineers within the department.
  • Create and maintain Change Controls, adhering to strict ALCOA requirements
  • Generate and manage, as assigned, Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, and Invoice Mismatches through the Electronic Procurement system.
  • Maintain up-to-date files for all mechanical and electrical drawings of modifications to machine layouts, equipment designs and fabricated parts, as well as files of operation/maintenance manuals.
  • Participate in inter-departmental task forces for line extensions, packaging change projects and contract manufacturing.
  • Oversee and administer automation and digital systems as required.
  • Provide technical and project support to resolve compliance audit findings as assigned
  • Review and approve technical documentation (i.e. protocols, reports, assessments, etc.) as designate for MAM Site Lead when necessary.
