Description:

Experienced Automotive Controller needed for family owned dealer group north of Boston, MA. This person will be responsible to oversee a consolidated accounting office for two stores. It is important that the person hired has automotive dealership accounting experience and can close out the month end. Dealership Accounting experience is required for this role
The successful candidate will have a proven track record as an Automotive Controller / Automotive Office Manager at a new car dealership. This person will be responsible for closing out the month-end for more than one dealership, with clean books, in a timely fashion. The Automotive Comptroller hired will oversee a team of 4 in their accounting office, as well as a couple receptionists. Experience on CDK is a big plus, as well as some payroll experience. The Accounting Manager hired will be responsible for submitting the month end financial statement to the factory, reconciliations, reporting, expense analysis, assisting in audits, and analyzing and interpreting financial data among other tasks. The Controller will not be micromanaged and will have the ability to manage their accounting office as they see best fit for success.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to oversee, maintain, and improve the financial well-being of the dealership(s)
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements; monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and reporting including, but not limited to, intercompany transactions and balances and reporting to manufacturers.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with the General Manager and upper management team
  • Understand and maximize benefits from manufacturer incentive programs and payment structures, work with GMs to achieve results, and ensure the team is current on program rules.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems/processes for financial controls and performance.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating expenditures against budget to identify expense and gross profit opportunities.
  • Ensure all store transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Complete monthly commission workbooks, have a strong understanding of individual pay plans and commissions.
  • Review and analyze parts monthly/annual reconciliation.
  • Dealership vehicle inventory – review and reconcile physical to GL.
  • Maintain accounting schedules.
  • Expense Analysis
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.
  • Assist in audits (floor plan, sales tax, manufacturer) and year-end review.
  • Internal controls – implement and ensure the store follows the internal control process.
  • Work closely with other department managers to achieve store goals
