Description:

Responsible for developing solutions for the customer, working alongside the project team and the client to develop functional specifications and kit lists, this will be the lead design role in EMEA. The AV Engineering Consultant will provide technical support by acting as a consultant to the Program Management Team, generating functional system descriptions, block flow diagrams and equipment lists to enable generation of customer proposals.
A comprehensive working knowledge of AV Systems and Video Conferencing technologies is required. Enterprise level solution design for large scale new build/ refurbishment projects. Accountability for all escalations relating to the project technical deliverables.
Provide technical advice and assistance to non-technical project delivery team. Advantageous Industry or manufacturer certifications such as Infocomm CTS-D
Installation / Commissioning or Project management experience advantageous.
Strong business acumen and a good understanding of general technology concepts are required, specifically Infrastructure and Unified Communications.
You will be competent in project change management, have a good understanding of project life cycles and take responsibility for all aspects of projects.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Comprehensive working knowledge of current AV systems, associated IT elements and their installations (including AMX, Crestron, Extron, audio DSP, video conferencing, video streaming, digital signage, etc).
- Industry or manufacturer certifications, such as Infocomm CTS-D, advantageous.
- Installation/commissioning, or Project management experience, advantageous.
- Any AV Design qualifications would be of benefit.
- Wide-ranging technical knowledge – Video, Networking, Audio, Power, Ventilation.
- Outstanding skills and experience with the following: AutoCAD, VectorWorks, MS Office, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Top-quality time management skills.
- Self-starter/ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities:
- Ability to translate customer requirements into functional system designs.
- Attend internal design meetings.
- Liaise with architect, contractor, and client design teams.
- Review pre-construction design and documentation.
- Aid with technical design and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges for the project team to consider while delivering the program.
- Generate functional system descriptions and block diagram, including Floor Plans, Schematics, Elevations.
- Create working drawings and designs for the manufacture of bespoke items.
- Create as-built drawings and O+M manuals.
- Assist with the production of specification sheets.
- Identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs.
- Assist the Project Manager with labour and material estimates for projects.
- Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculation, acoustical modelling, or other data as required.Provide ongoing engineering support as needed.
- Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested.
- Create or validate bills of Material.
- Maintain standards and deviations from standards.
- Assumes main responsibility for the technical architecture and steering AV work in that direction on projects over time on behalf of and under guidance of client standards committee.
- Gather and document custom requirements and functional specifications.
- Manage the drafting of design development drawings and quality assures the drawings prior to release.
- Support the Project Manager with the creation of construction documentation.
- Supports Project Manager on all technical elements.
- Answers any technical RFI’s during project life cycle.
- Acts as technical escalation point during project lifecycle.
- Supports Commissioning remotely or on occasion onsite.
