Description:

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization! Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.
Profile
The Avionics System Integration Designer will primarily focus on the generation of electrical integration wiring diagrams, harness fabrication drawings, wire harness installation & routing diagrams, wire cut lists, generation of functional & EMC test plans, preparation of electrical load analysis reports, weight & balance list amendments, and equipment list amendments. This position will report to the Design Manager and will work in close cooperation with the electrical and avionics delegates.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical and avionics modifications, including new installations, supported by Autodesk AutoCAD software, and based on industry specific drafting standards, like IEEE, ANSY, CSA, ASTM, or Mil-STD.
  • Generation of electrical integration, wiring harness and routing drawings.
  • Generation of Electrical Load Analysis reports and amendments.
  • Generation of Weight and Balance reports and amendments.
  • Generation of functional and EMC test plans, ground, and flight.
  • Generation of Engineering Orders, including full modification installation instructions.
  • Peer review of various avionics and electrical modification drawings and data packages.
  • Preparation of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness Supplements, Maintenance Manual Supplements, and Illustrated Parts Catalog Supplements.
  • Participate in and contribute to discussions surrounding project related design issues.
  • Provide liaison support for installation and troubleshooting.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Avionics / Aircraft Electrical Systems Specialty.

Skills & Experience

  • The candidate shall have a minimum of four (4) years of Avionics & Electrical Systems Integration experience on Transport Category Airplanes and Transport Category Rotorcraft.
  • The candidate shall possess an electrical engineering bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of academic qualification in the Avionics specialty.
  • Experience in aircraft electrical and avionics systems operation (including troubleshooting), electrical load calculation and analysis. Must hold a comprehensive understanding of aircraft communications, navigation, pulse (Mode S, TCAS, Weather Radar), flight director and autopilot systems.
  • Computer literacy: Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Good writing and oral skills, initiative, a strong sense of responsibility and good technical judgement.
  • Available for travelling if necessary.
  • Availability to work extra hours when required.
  • Experience within an Aircraft Modification facility is an asset to this position.
