Overview:
Adastra drives data and analytics solutions to the next level, and we are looking for an AWS Cloud Infrastructure/DevOps Engineer to join the team. In this role you will have the unique opportunity to function at the core of managing our AWS services infrastructure, prioritizing scalability, reliability, and security. Leveraging CDK along with several AWS data services (EMR, Glue, Redshift, and more), the ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for driving cloud technologies and ultimately revolutionizing how insights are harnessed to make strategic decisions. Location: Downtown Toronto, Hybrid (2 days per week in office)
Status: Contract

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Seasoned experience as an AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, AWS DevOps Engineer, or related AWS roles
  • Proficiency in AWS CDK (TypeScript) for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation
  • Platform-level experience handling AWS data services, including EC2, EMR, Glue, Redshift, RDS, Lambda, and Sagemaker
  • Previous experience implementing and maintaining security measures using AWS services such as S3, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch
  • Solid understanding of cloud security best practices and networking concepts (VPC and security groups)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and/or SQL
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to optimize infrastructure performance
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provision and manage AWS data services including EMR, Glue, Sagemaker, Redshift, and RDS, with a strong focus on scalability and security
  • Utilize AWS CDK (TypeScript) for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate and standardize provisioning processes
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures across all AWS services, encompassing S3, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch
  • Troubleshoot AWS data services infrastructure and fine-tune performance for optimal operation
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cloud security best practices and networking principles (VPC, security groups)
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment to achieve collective and strategic goals
