AWS SRE Engineer, Investment Management Solution

Client: Our client is one of the world’s top 10 investment companies with headquarters in Great Britain with branch offices in the U.S. and Hong Kong. The IT environment of this company is constantly growing: there are around 30 programs and more than 60 projects actively developing at present time. During the next 4 years, they are going to replace 150 out of 400 systems and integrate U.S., HK and UK environments.
Project overview: You will be part of the SRE/Support/Cloud team taking care of the Client’s applications and systems for the branch office in Chicago. This role includes creating in-build monitoring, alerting and self-healing capabilities as well as finding and resolving problems.

Responsibilities: Together with other teammates you will support production and UAT systems, manage the Continuous Integration environments, and Application & Development Environments, work on fixes and improvements of existing systems, and facilitate Technical Roadmaps. The peculiarity of this role is the need to work on weekends and perform out-of-hours on-call duty one week a month.

• Requirements: Excellent communication skills (fluent English)
• Strong Java skills (Java 8+)
• Linux and networking fundamentals
• Experience of containerization using Docker
• Experience of continuous integration tooling using Jenkins, Maven, Nexus & SonarQube
• Experience with AWS; EC2, RDS(Aurora), Elasticache and other managed services
• An appreciation of Java / JVM-based application internals and debugging
• Monitoring with Prometheus & Grafana or similar
• Experience across the entire stack: hardware, application, security and network
• Experience with continuous deployment
• Nice to have: Supplementary languages (.NET, Python, Go, Julia)
• Knowledge of container orchestration using Kubernetes and Openshift
• Experience of agile software development methodologies and environments
