QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Proven experience as a Backend Automation Engineer/Data Engineer or similar role
• Experience managing the collection, annotation, maintenance, etc of training/test data
• Experience developing automated pipelines for data collection/preprocessing/testing
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Experience working with binary data
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Essential:
• Experience and proficiency with Python
• Experience and proficiency with SQL
• Desirable:
• Experience with Linux
• Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and model training (MLOps)
• RF knowledge

ABOUT THE ROLE

The company is seeking a Backend Automation Engineer/Data Engineer with relevant experience to join the development team in Sydney. The role is primarily focused on the development of DroneShield’s RFAI projects. It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding market.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

• Be the source of knowledge for best practices with respect to data formatting, storage and quality control
• Manage the verification, annotation and storage of collected data
• Utilise Python skills for complex data manipulation/normalisation and pipeline development
• Produce scripts / notebooks to assist researchers with inspecting and visualising data
• Develop tools to monitor and analyse performance metrics, driving optimisation and improvement of product development
• Work closely with DroneShield’s data collection partners
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions that support business objectives
