Description:
We are looking for a ward administrator to support 7 East, our busy Trauma & Orthopaedics ward, on Thursdays and Fridays between 10:00 - 18:00, on a part-time (job-share) basis. The successful candidate will be expected to play a vital role in providing high quality ward administrative and reception support to underpin this essential service.
The successful candidate will provide frontline reception and general administration support to the ward. They will be required to demonstrate the Trust’s values and the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. They must be a proactive and self-motivated individual and a good team player, who is used to working under pressure. Excellent communication and IT skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
7 East is a busy ward on which colleagues from a wide variety of teams and disciplines - nurses, doctors, administrators, therapists, pharmacists, discharge co-ordinators and others - work closely together to deliver the highest quality of service to our patients. The successful candidate will become an integral part of this wider ward team.
The job will involve frontline reception duties, as well as computer work and general administrative support. Computer work will include:
updating the live bed board to accurately record admissions, discharges and transfers
printing wristbands and labels as requested
looking up discharge summaries to ascertain patients’ outpatient appointment requirements, and booking or arranging the appointments as appropriate
sending emails to other departments
booking patient transport
emailing district nurse referrals on behalf of the nurses
ordering porters
placing orders for supplies and equipment
reporting faults and chasing up repairs
