An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 3- Ward Clerk to join our team in Tropical Lagoon at Queen’s Hospital. The successful candidate is expected to provide comprehensive, efficient and effective clerical/administrative support to nursing and medical staff at ward level. The successful post holder will promote and encourage a caring and sympathetic environment for patients, relatives and staff ensuring that high standards of service are continually maintained. The post holder will be the first point of contact for other departments,. patients relatives and outside agencies. If you are a committed person who can work and multi-task in an administration role, with a flexible “can do” attitude to work and can see yourself as part of a busy multi disciplinary team them we would like to hear from you. IT skills are essential to the role as the successful applicant will be expected to maintain excel spreadsheets and book patient appointments on the care flow and other Trust’s IT computer system. Provide a comprehensive range of administrative services to the Ward Team. This will include liaising with other departments and services and responding effectively to enquiries from the public, service users, referrers, and other agencies. To provide a visible and accessible support to all children and families within the Paediatric Ward areas. The post holder will provide an efficient and effective clerical support service to nursing and medical staff at ward level ensuring the entire ward IT systems are updated as required to improve indirect patient care and the patient experience. The post holder will promote and encourage a caring and sympathetic environment for children, relatives and staff ensuring that high standards of service are continually maintained, through active coordination of the friends and family audits and ensuring the needs of children and families are paramount. The nature of duties undertaken within this post dictates that strict confidentiality is always maintained.
We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.
We’re pleased to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings for urgent and emergency care at Queen’s and King George hospitals; and data released by NHS England showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
