The key clinical responsibilities include: Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service. Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery. Undertake patient centered interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the persons treatment to high intensity.
Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self help computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post. This will include attending taught university days and engaging with university directed study days, assignments and independent study. Essential criteria Undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 6 Evidence of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problems Verbal and written communication skills Ability to work under pressure Desirable criteria Volunteer Work Experience of working in Primary Care Services Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems Please see job description for full details
