Description:
To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
Participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.
Adhere to professional Codes of Professional Practice provide high quality care to patients undergoing treatment within the perioperative setting.
To act in a professional manner and in accordance with the Trust values and behaviours

To practice in accordance with clinical governance
Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of patient care
Delegation and supervision of registered and unregistered staff including Associate Theatre Practitioners and learners
Working with members of the multi-disciplinary team following local protocols and standards
Awareness of the effective management of resources within the department
Participate in clinical trials and research when required
Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
Communicate effectively with patients and relatives/carers to provide patients and relatives/carers with information and advice and to liaise with appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team regarding their surgery. Communicate with relatives and patients to offer appropriate information and support.
Provide and maintain effective clinical assessment to ensure that patient care is planned and evaluated and related to the individual needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Seek supervision to ensure that personal clinical practice is continuously developing.
Ensure that all documentation is comprehensively completed in accordance with the NMC/HCPC and Trust guidance.
Act at all times in accordance with the NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct and maintain NMC/HCPC CPD requirements
Develop supervisory skills that support the continuous development of team members.
To respect patient confidentiality at all times.
To run or assist in the running of operating lists ensuring the efficient and safe running of the session.
To communicate effectively with patients, relatives/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team at all times.
