BHRUT is one of the largest University Hospitals, providing acute care for over 700,000 people from across two main sites - King George Hospital and Queen’s Hospital. We are recruiting for a Physiotherapist / Exercise instructor who shares our ambition to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the passion and drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continue to be the first choice for patients and our staff. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at BHRUT is fully certified in the National Certification Programme for Cardiac Rehabilitation and strives to offer the highest service to all our patients. We offer face to face, virtual and telephone appointments to patients throughout their recovery. We see a range of cardiac conditions including Myocardial Infarction, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Valve Replacement, Internal Cardiac Defibrillators, Transplant and with the addition of this post Heart Failure. You are is expected to assist with the delivery of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, delivering a service across hospital and community sites as well as a virtual aspect. You will be involved in all aspects of the programme including assessments, exercise programme and the educational component but will take the lead with exercise as required. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Team (CR) operates in line with the national objectives for cardiac rehabilitation and to the divisional and corporate objectives and quality and safety framework. The team provide clinical expertise across departments and divisional boundaries. The post holder will work as guided by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Lead to have a teaching presence along with clinical patient contact. The job purpose is to maintain evidence-based standards and a high quality of patient focused care that delivers an outstanding individualised experience for every patient. To provide exercise prescription for cardiovascular endurance, exercise and resistance training within a cardiac rehabilitation setting.
Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change .
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
