Description:
To line manage the shortened course students/ apprenticeship/ return to practice midwives, including sickness reviews, recruitment processes and liaise concerns with the HEI. Compiling the Students/ Learners Off-Duties and Adding to E-Roster ensuring that all is fair and equitable. Organise Service Education Meetings Co-ordinate and provide the delivery of local student induction to ensure students are suitably prepared for practice placements as per mandatory requirements. Keep in touch days for returning students/learners.
Ensure Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors meet the requirements of their professional body for the role and maintain a live record of the PS/PAs in maternity. Work with Practice Supervisors and Assessors to ensure students receive induction and orientation to the practice placement area. Develop and facilitate initiatives for supporting and enhancing student learning in practice in response to need and to improve the learning experience. Facilitate student experience focus groups and work with the Practice Development Team for final placement 3rd Year students development programme.
Develop systems for supporting and disseminating information to the PS/PAs and clinical managers. Contribute to curriculum and other relevant course planning within the HEIs, ensuring the practice component of both local needs and national standards are met. Act as the main link in collaboration with the Link lecturers and clinical staff for students issues arising whilst in practice to ensure timely and appropriate response. Foster a learning environment within the practice placement areas, ensuring staff are encouraged to develop and update their clinical expertise in the care of women and their families.
Support and gather students and PS/PAs feedback regarding the learning environment themes. To ensure that priority issues for the Trust such as dignity and respect, patient safety, patients first are included in Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessors activity. Deliver a variety of teaching sessions including up to date research based clinical skills supporting students and staff
