Description:
The East and Central Bristol CAMHS Team is located within a community settlement in a vibrant and culturally diverse area of Central Bristol. We are a CYP-IAPT service currently developing the i-Thrive framework.
An opportunity has arisen for a mental health practitioner skilled and experienced with children, young people and families to take on the role of a full time Band 7 CAMHS Primary Mental Health Specialist linking with a number of Primary and Secondary schools in Bristol.
As a fully registered CAMHS Specialist in this team you will show enthusiasm, humour and acceptance and will have excellent clinical, therapeutic, and communication skills. You will facilitate and provide assessment services on the psychological / emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people. You will lead and participate in multi agency meetings and consultations with frontline school professionals. You will engage in some direct therapeutic work with children and carers / parents and will self manage a caseload. You will deliver training events for other professionals and carers / parents as required.

To contribute to the development of emotional and mental health outreach services and systemic practice for children, young people and families in the East and Central locality.
The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary Specialist CAMHS team so will need to work within CAMHS processes and participate in core Specialist CAMHS therapeutic activities across the age range as negotiated within CAMHS.
To be a part of PMHS workforce with the aim of being able to provide a link and a bridge between specialist Community CAMHS and other frontline services providing referral guidance, support and consultation.
In line with the Primary Mental Health Specialist (PMHS) core offer, time will be divided between the core functions of direct therapeutic assessments and intervention, consultation and training to reflect the needs of the service.
To contribute to team development around mental health, wellbeing and practice that contributes to the development of promoting good emotional health.
As part of CAMHS you will be part of the wider PMHS team. You will be well supported within CAMHS with regular managerial and clinical supervision and clinical team/PMHS meetings.

To assess the mental health, emotional and psychological needs of children and young people via consultation with Primary and Secondary Schools in the East and Central Bristol Locality.
To provide specialist consultation, liaison, advice and support to School nurses, counsellors, GP’s.
To participate in the development and delivery of mental health training specific for schools and GP surgeries.
To be a link and a bridge between CAMHS and other partner agencies.
