Responsible for the day to day management of the Business Intelligence Team, providing leadership and development for all members, ensuring that the team is highly productive and providing consistent levels of support to the trust.
AWP is looking for an enthusiastic, well organised manager with experience of working in the NHS and in particular a Mental Health Trust.
Responsible for the day to day management of the Business Intelligence team, providing leadership and development for all members, ensuring that the team is highly productive and providing consistent levels of support to the Trust.
To maintain / develop the Trust’s suite of regular reports so that all statutory and contractual reporting requirements are delivered to time, as well as ensuring a comprehensive set of internal management reports are in place.
To be the Trust expert on all information reporting requirements (internally and externally), to ensure that all data submissions represent the Trust appropriately and are both complete and accurate. An important part of this role is to facilitate the improvement of data quality across the Trust.
To provide training and support for AWP staff in the effective use of information and the systems used.
We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust) a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care. We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset. Our outstanding people promote mental health and wellbeing. The expertise and resources within AWP are dedicated to a person-centred approach for those who use our services and for all employees. We recognise that happy and fulfilled employees give better care.
At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
To maintain (and develop) the Trust’s Business Intelligence function, managing the team day to day to ensure short term work is delivered to time, whilst also helping to implement longer-term, more strategic, improvements.
To be a Trust expert in all reporting requirements, both regular and ad hoc, supporting the Business Intelligence team to create reports that allow staff to easily access and interpret information so that they can monitor/manage their services. On occasion, this will require supporting staff (managers, clinicians and administrative staff) to further their understanding by translating the technical detail of an item into something that’s more meaningful and easier to digest.
Monitor and promote the quality and accuracy of the data held on all electronic patient record systems (for example RiO and IAPTUS), working with clinical staff on strategies for improvement. This will include maintaining up to date knowledge of external information sources pertaining to data quality (e.g. information published by NHS Digital) and identifying from those sources appropriate national standards that will help the Trust to continually improve quality and accuracy of data.
To assist in the development of policies, procedures and documentation to support the use of information resources within the Trust.
To develop policies, procedures and documentation to be used internally by the Business Intelligence team to ensure the efficient running of the team’s business.
Provide support and training for all users in the use of information.
To work with other technical departments to ensure that development of clinical systems is effective and results in collection of data that can be reported effectively. To also work with these departments to ensure that all reference tables within these systems are up to date and accurate.
Work with partnership organisations to re-model the Trust’s data items in order to help them meet their reporting requirements. This process involves a detailed knowledge of the Trust’s clinical practices and the resultant information resources available and expert knowledge of data manipulation techniques and comprehensive understanding of all partnership organisation processes and reports
