Description:

An opportunity for a secondment to cover maternity cover for a job share with an experienced senior practitioner for complex emotional needs has become available in North Somerset. The post holder will work within the BNSSG Wide Complex Emotional needs service and be based in the North Somerset area of the team.
You will provide specialist clinical expertise to services in the formulation and interventions for adults with a diagnosis of personality disorder.
To share the workload of the senior practitioner for complex emotional needs within North Somerset. This could include:
Supporting the development of staff skills and wellbeing through delivering group and individual clinical supervision.
Delivering evidence based interventions clinically such as SCM and DBT.
Providing leadership support and accountability for the use of the SCM model.
Completing treatment needs assessments
Delivering training alongside the BNSSG Wide CEN Service
Chairing or supporting MDT meetings for service users presenting with high levels of distress, risk or complexity.
Offering advice, consultation and training to the wider health and social care system.

Duties
Support the implementation and evaluation of a model of care such as Structured Clinical Management (SCM) within an allocated recovery team.
Provide specialist consultation for complex cases including developing formulations and specialist advice to multi agencies (including health, social care and police).
Support and develop the skills of individuals, teams and services in positive risk management and development of other appropriate strategies to minimise risk in relation to any aspect on the care pathway, including discharge and inpatient ward rounds.
Alongside Care Coordinators, educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying formulations in a skilled and sensitive manner, in easily understood language.
Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of clinical sessions carried out per week in order to establish the treatment delivery element of the role.
Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
Work closely with care coordinators to, where possible, repatriate service users from out of area placements to their home areas.
Work collaboratively to support the work of clinical staff across all of the allocated area’s services. Work closely with service users and staff to develop and deliver a clear pathway of evidence-based interventions in line with national guidance and best practice, including structured clinical management.
Work in collaboration with PTS colleagues to develop & deliver reflective practice/supervision for staff working with people with personality disorder difficulties.
Identify training needs and support development and delivery of appropriate training for mental health staff working with people with personality disorder difficulties.
Work directly with clients with personality disorder difficulties delivering evidence based psychological approaches.
Work across primary and secondary care to consider the most appropriate clinical pathways for people with personality disorder diagnoses.
Training
Develop, contribute to and deliver a range of training packages and workshops as required and within the budget
Provide expert evaluation of training packages to support service development.
Attend local, regional and national meetings, groups, conferences and training to further support professional development in line with service requirements.
Contribute to and support involvement in AWP and clinical service evaluation and audit processes, including the development and delivery of agreed key performance indicators and evaluating treatment
Supervision
Provide individual and group supervision within AWP, including reflective practice to teams.
Provide de-briefing on an ad hoc bases to staff and teams where required.
Attend an agreed frequency of clinical supervision.
Attend line management supervision with the personality disorder clinical lead
Service Development
Develop and deliver a culture of supervision and reflective practice within teams to support the development of sustainable services for individuals with personality disorder presentations.
Embrace the development of and inspire others in the improvement of services using quality improvement methodology.
Interpret local, regional and national guidance, policy and research and bring national guidance and best practice to the attention of managers.
Provide feedback into relevant Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire and AWP wide strategies.
Professional
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g. NMC, BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Protect client confidentiality, within ethical limits.
Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in psychological therapies as relevant to working with people with a diagnosis of personality disorder.
Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with the Line Manager on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Team Manager.
Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
Keep up to date records in relation to C.P.D. and ensure personal development plan maintains specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, training needs analyses and collaborate with others to collate and disseminate the results for feedback
