Description:

Are you passionate about working with older adults across inpatient and community settings within an innovative and developing psychological therapies team? Would you like to work in the beautiful UNESCO city of Bath?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical of Counselling Psychologist to join our friendly, innovative and well-respected multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies Service in BANES.
It is an exciting time in BANES as our team is developing at a pace with several new staff recently joining including a newly created Head of Therapies, Dr Kate Chapman and a Psychology lead for Later Life.
BANES Therapies Team offers a wide range of psychological therapies including CBT, EMDR, MBT, DBT, Art Psychotherapy, Family and Couples Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy, in both group and individual contexts. We have established links with local training providers and all Therapies staff have access to regular activities to support their ongoing professional development.
BANES Psychological Therapies service has developed good relationships with other teams in the locality, who value the input and contribution of all our team members. We strive to offer the best service possible to our service users.
BANES Therapies is based in Bath NHS House, co-located with several other community teams. We have another clinical base at Paulton Hospital.
We would welcome an informal chat or visit and look forward to reading your application.
The role involves providing specialist psychological input to the later life dementia ward and supporting our Complex Intervention and Treatment Team (CITT), a multidisciplinary community team for older people with complex mental health needs.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated to provide a good quality, evidence-based psychological service and will have experience of working with individuals in later life with complex psychological difficulties, including dementia.
Both the ward team and CITT have dedicated multidisciplinary clinicians, with opportunities for consultation and training alongside the direct clinical work in the form of specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention. The CITT caseload is diverse, and we are seeking a psychologist with experience of working with older people with complex mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and physical and neurological comorbidities.
We are looking for somebody with excellent communication and engagement skills, who can work autonomously whilst enjoying being an integrated member of the Psychological Therapies team.
We provide opportunities for training and development and support our staff in skills acquisition and through supervision.
We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust): a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.
We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset.
Our outstanding people promote mental health and wellbeing. The expertise and resources within AWP are dedicated to a person-centred approach for those who use our services and for all employees. We recognise that happy and fulfilled employees give better care.
At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
The BANES Therapies team is an integral part of the wider BANES Mental Health services. We work closely with BSW divisional teams such as the Complex Emotional Needs Team and will be heavily involved in future Community Mental Health Framework innovations as they develop.
The post holder will apply their psychological knowledge and skills in a variety of ways within BANES Psychological Therapies and the wider service (e.g., through consultation, training and supervision). We are keen as a team to share our knowledge and skills with other teams in the locality to ensure people who access our service get the most effective and safe service. The role also involves liaison with other services across the Trust.
