Description:

Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home (SCH) is situated in South Gloucestershire and is run and managed by the local authority, located to the North East of the city of Bristol. The home opened in February 1995 and accommodates up to 24 young people of both sexes, aged between 10 and 18 years who are either remanded or sentenced by the criminal courts or detained under 25 of the Children Act 1989 (Welfare Placements) The young people that are placed at SCHs often have a range of complex needs, missed a large amount of education, have unmet emotional and physical health needs and have experienced significant levels of trauma in their lives. SCHs provide a safe place where these young people can receive the care, education and support they need, with the aim of supporting them to develop a range of personal skills, aided by changes in behaviour and attitude, which will enable them to manage safely and responsibly when they return to the wider community.
The service is taking forward the local implementation of the SECURE STAIRS project; a framework for developing and implementing psychological care within the secure estate, commissioned nationally by NHS England. The young persons are supported within the SECURE STAIRS framework under a 7 year contract (6 years left)
