With this in mind we are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our Band 7 practitioners in the safeguarding of adults.
To act as Safeguarding Adults Team lead for the Safeguarding Service; ensuring that the Safeguarding adult team works effectively and efficiently to promote the safeguarding and protection of adults at risk.
Take the lead for the operational delivery of Safeguarding Adults Band 7s across the team
Ensure that the Trust objectives in relation to vulnerable adults are adequately managed in line with the Safeguarding Adults Strategy and
To provide expert safeguarding support at all levels of the organisation, to Executive and Non Executives, leadership teams within Clinical divisions and clinical teams/staff
Provide expert Safeguarding advice and direction to Exec Board, Senior managers and divisional leads across BCHC and external partners promoting the establishment of effective local safeguarding networks

Work with clinical teams to identify issues and then take appropriate
Liaise with the range of agencies involved in Safeguarding Adults as required in support of clinical teams dealing with complex
Provide clinical expertise while working with clinical teams and to identify issues and concerns related to Safeguarding Adults and take appropriate actions to address
Support identified multi professionals to develop their identification, assessment, and management of safeguarding
Develop and support the implementation of Safeguarding Adults clinical supervision
within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust
Support clinical staff in resolving patient & family issues and concerns regarding Safeguarding Adults, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and patient dignity
Act as an expert resource and provide advice on safeguarding standards
Develop and maintain strong links with all stakeholders underpinned by robust communication channels and strong partnerships
Actively identify opportunities to influence the local quality agenda
Advise on developments and best practice in relation to Safeguarding Adults, the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
Be an accessible person of knowledge for all areas in the Trust
Provide evidence and information for Care Quality Commission Outcome 7 and NHS Litigation Authority risk management standards for Safeguarding Adults
Undertake Safeguarding Adults investigations within the Trust, dealing with highly emotive and contentious
Forge successful relationships with other healthcare professionals and non-clinical support staff to improve the overall patient experience in relation to patient
Disseminate learning from Serious Case Reviews and assist in the implementation of Serious Case Review recommendations for
Actively participate in relevant corporate forums and contribute to the development of corporate policies and action plans within the remit of Safeguarding Adults
Maintain an active professional registration with appropriate professional
Management and Leadership Responsibilities
Have an understanding of the national perspective and future strategy for the NHS and related areas of health to ensure that staff in your team/s are fully aware of the implications and can contribute effectively to service improvement.
Develop and empower all members of your team to perform to high standards and innovate.
Ensure supportive staff management arrangements are in place and carry out personal development reviews for direct reports. Ensure all staff in your team/s have annual PDR’s resulting in specific objectives and effective personal development plans in line with the Knowledge and Skills Outline Framework.
Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery. Ensure specific equality objective are included in PDR’s.
Develop a culture that ensure that the standards of Improving Working Lives and Investors in People are achieved and maintained for all staff and that staff’s perception about their working lives are measured and improvements made.
Interpret strategic guidelines and provide advice for the Trust, where necessary, on local and national policies/recommendations, which may impact on Safeguarding Adults, the Mental Capacity Act implementation and Deprivation of Liberty
Develop a working culture that ensures Health and Wellbeing and promotes a ‘Great Place to Work’ and Learning for staff.
Provide senior leadership to ensure that the health and wellbeing of all staff, who may be at risk of abuse or neglect, is paramount at all times
Provide leadership to all clinical and non-registered staff across the Organisational Portfolio, keeping up-to-date with key clinical and care developments relevant to the Division and facilitating clinical staff to do the same.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team take shared corporate responsibility for sourcing, reading and disseminating Trust approved policies throughout the Division to ensure staff are aware of current policies and governance arrangement
To undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.
To minimise the Trust’s environmental impact wherever possible, including recycling, switching off lights, computers, monitors, and equipment when not in use. Helping to reduce paper waste by minimising printing/copying and reducing water usage, reporting faults and heating/cooling concerns promptly and minimising travel. Where the role includes the ordering and use of supplies or equipment the post holder will consider the environmental impact of purchases.
Responsible for undertaking appraisal of identified staff, including identifying the learning and development needs of individuals in line with the Knowledge and Skills Outline Framework.
