All applicants must have evidence to verify knowledge, skills and training undertaken in their role as a pharmacy technician. The post holder will possess excellent communication skills, good interpersonal and IT skills, and able to work independently as well as in a team in a dynamic Pharmacy department.

THE POST HOLDER WILL:

Have experience of working in a hospital pharmacy post registration
Undertake or willing to work towards Medicines Optimisation training
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient focused care and ensure a timely supply of medicines, utilisation of patients’ own medicines and medicines adherence training.
Participate in medicines management, ward top-up and ward-based dispensing.
Provide dispensary-based patient services to inpatients and outpatients including clinical trials.
Complete or work towards working as an Accredited Pharmacy Checking Technician qualification.
Participate in the training of Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists and rotate through specialist work-streams.
Undertake a course in Education and Training to facilitate learning.
The post holder must hold Level 3 BTEC and NVQ in Pharmacy Services Certificate or equivalent and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

The post is a Band 4 post who will play an integral part of the medicines optimisation clinical services team providing a Pharmacy service and working closely within the multi-disciplinary team. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Service Provision (Dispensary)
As part of a structured rotational programme to provide a high quality, customer focused pharmaceutical service to in-patients, out-patients, discharge patients, and associated hospitals and clinics.
To interpret prescriptions and input prescription information onto the Pharmacy Computer system
To help maintain accurate patient medication records.
To dispense and supply drugs to patients
To label and dispense controlled drugs (CDs) against a recognised order or clinically checked prescription in line with departmental policies and procedures
To maintain documentation to support the dispensing and of all medicines including CDs
To be involved with the dispensing of clinical trials and ensure the necessary records are maintained in accordance with protocols
To check and monitor stock in the Emergency Drugs Cupboard on a daily basis as per rota
To assist with co-ordinating crash boxes/trolley (monitoring expiry dates, assemble stock, collection/deliver to wards, updating relevant paperwork)
Assist with returned stock from wards, and assess suitability for re-use within the Trust
To ensure the dispensary is a clean, tidy and safe place in which to work
To communicate with patients and health care professionals
To optimise patient knowledge of their drugs
To have a working knowledge of pharmacy stock control and ordering systems
You will also need to be registered with the Gphc Pharmaceutical counci
