Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a bank medical laboratory assistant based at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil.
The successful applicant will become part of a team supporting the Biochemistry department in the delivery of a safe and efficient service.
Previous experience in a NHS Clinical laboratory would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
The applicant should have a good standard of general education and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an attention to detail and an ability to learn new tasks. The post-holder will be required to handle biological specimens, e.g. blood, faeces, urine, in accordance with Health & Safety Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
The main duties include preparation, labelling and data entry of clinical specimens for biological testing which have to be undertaken with care. It will be advantageous to have worked in a laboratory environment previously and some IT experience would be of benefit.
