Description:

The Sheraton Athlone Hotel, part of the Hodson Bay Group, is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to join our dynamic Bar Kitchen team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience at Commis Chef level.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team while using your initiative.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Capacity to handle high-pressure situations and busy periods.
  • Flexibility, innovation, and adaptability.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of food items according to menu specifications.
  • Be aware of daily business needs and be prepared accordingly.
  • Familiarise yourself with the menu and daily specials.
  • Ensure all dishes meet agreed standards.
  • Minimise wastage and follow portion control guidelines to act in a cost-effective and responsible manner.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene practices from storage through to preparation and service.
  • Adhere to HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is functioning properly and report any maintenance issues to your supervisor.
  • Support team members to consistently exceed guest expectations by producing quality food.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and maintain a positive attitude.
