Position Title: Department of Bariatric Medicine Registrar
Employment Type: Full Time
Classification: REG 1 - 4
Salary: $112,917 - $141,084 (Plus 11.5% Super)
Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension
Location: The Canberra Hospital

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is accredited for advanced training in Public Health Medicine or for elective terms in Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, or other specialties with a focus on chronic disease.
Previously this position was based in the Chronic Disease Management Unit (CDMU). The CDMU has been restructured and now consists of the Bariatric Medicine Service within the Division of Medicine. It is located at the Belconnen Community Health Centre.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
An Australian MBBS medical degree, or equivalent
Be registered, or be eligible for, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Be registered under the Working for Vulnerable People Act.

Achieve and maintain currency in resuscitation and life support credentials.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES
Under limited direction of the Clinical Director you will:
- Provide clinical and population health management of patients of Canberra Health Services under the supervision and direction of a Consultant Medical Practitioner. The role includes direct clinical contact with patients at Department of Bariatric Medicine, and being part of a multi-disciplinary team providing input into the management of patients receiving care coordination and obesity/chronic disease management. It also involves preparing and presenting patient case studies for consideration of publicly funded bariatric surgery to the Bariatric Surgery Advisory Committee.
Maintain a cooperative relationship with all relevant sections of Canberra Health Services and work collaboratively, flexibly, and efficiently and within an inter-professional clinical team.
Participate in training and professional development of the Department of Bariatric Medicine and other Canberra Health Services staff on obesity and chronic disease as appropriate.
- Demonstrate progress in training in their chosen medical specialty including participation in the relevant teaching program and activities, and timely completion of all training and administrative requirements. Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and CHS.
- Participate in research and evaluation of health services for people with obesity/chronic disease with the goal of presenting a poster and/or publication. Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.
- Maintain adequate and legible medical records and ensure that the clinical team completes all correspondence in a timely manner.
- Undertaking other duties as directed, within the approved scope of clinical practice ensuring the delivery of high quality person and family centred, safe and high quality patient care.
