Job Description:

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and tea beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and providing exceptional customer service to guests. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and brewed coffee, according to established recipes and standards.
  • Operate coffee equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, and brewers.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of beverages by following precise measurements and brewing methods.
  • Greet and engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide recommendations on coffee and tea selections based on guests’ preferences.
  • Address guest inquiries and resolve any complaints promptly and courteously.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and room charge payments accurately.
  • Upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, and merchandise to enhance guest experience and increase sales.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including counters, tables, and seating areas.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and food handling guidelines.
  • Monitor and replenish stock levels of coffee beans, teas, syrups, milk, and other supplies.
  • Assist in inventory counts and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of products to maintain freshness.
  • Work closely with other staff and hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in training new baristas and sharing knowledge about coffee and tea preparation.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving service and operations.

Desired Skill & Expertise:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a barista or in a customer service role in a café or restaurant is preferred.
  • Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso machine operation is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory management.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
