JOB SUMMARY:

There is an exciting opportunity within the SW Maritime Systems & Platforms department for an Associate Director within the Zumwalt IS3 portfolio in the Naval Integrated Solutions SSBU as an IPT Lead. This IPT lead is responsible for the successful execution of our Baseline Management, Integration and Test team, leading 50+ Engineers spanning multiple disciplines. This role will be critical in introducing new capability to the Zumwalt Program (e.g., SPY-6, CPS), modern technology (e.g., SW Factories, Containerization), and large-scale maintenance of over 27 million lines of developed code.
This position is an onsite role located in Tewksbury, MA as an on-site leader.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and twelve (12) years of engineering experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering Knowledge of Zumwalt Ship Control Systems and Combat Systems
  • Experience with the development and maintenance of multiple program sites
  • Experience with Navy customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership
  • Programmatic processes experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tiered environment
  • Strong presentation and proposal skills
  • Experienced with improvement and efficiency methods aimed at complex problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Knowledge and/or experience in IPDS process
  • Strong background is Software Development, System integration or System Test
  • PMX Level 6 Certification with the ability to reach Level 4 within 12 months

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES TO ANTICIPATE:

  • Support the Zumwalt Program Director to staff and budget for a team of 50+ FTE and over $30M in annual sales.
  • Responsible for managing multiple Technical Instructions across different appropriations and contracts. Responsible for properly communicating staffing needs, performing EAC’s and meeting critical development and release timelines.
  • Be the visionary in migrating the Zumwalt SW integration process into a modernized DevSecOps pipeline, capable of integrating with the PEO IWS-X Integrated Combat System.
  • Manage the validation and verification of more than 27M lines of developed code and their associated COTS, GOTS and Operating Systems.
  • Establish a relationship with PEO IWS and their associated NAVSEA warfare centers to foster a customer focused relationship to enable success of the warfighter.
  • Develop Integration and Test automation to modernize and streamline release processes.
  • Expand integration and test philosophies and processes from the Zumwalt Program into other Naval Surface integration programs (e.g., LPD, TAO(X), Polar Security Cutter) and other future programs.
  • Provide Leadership, Vision, Strategy, and guidance to ensure the goals of the IPT align with the overall SSBU portfolio.
  • Manage the development, integration and release of new Naval Capabilities such as Conventional Prompt Strike or SPY-6.
  • Actively integrate with the program’s Waterfront Integration team to identify and for SW updates to resolve critical defects.
  • Support the Zumwalt program office in future growth through proposal development and the deployment and continual improvement of people, processes, and tools.
  • Represent the interests of several engineering directorates across RMD engineering on the program and manage a team capable of delivering products that include software, algorithms, requirements, simulations, customer briefings, etc.
  • Potential growth into Combat System integration into international markets.
  • Interface with the local Tewksbury FSO, ISSM and sit on the Tewksbury Site Incident Support Team. This role includes occasional travel to Portsmouth, RI; San Diego, CA; Pascagoula, MS and other domestic shipyard locations.
