As part of the Battery Engineering group, this position involves contributing to the evolution of Apple’s next generation battery solutions to power world class consumer electronic devices. Responsibilities include the development and qualification of advanced, energy storage technology, fabrication and assembly process development The ideal candidate shows initiative and can drive projects independently with inputs and guidance from multiple collaborators. A successful engineer needs to be comfortable with constantly evolving priorities and is a thoughtful, nimble, and action oriented problem solver. A background in analyzing workflows, applying quality assurance methods, establishing critical-to-quality metrics and statistical process control is necessary.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Practical experience in leading engineering projects demonstrating an ability to plan, implement, and communicate to multi-functional audiences.
- Proven experience in technology development with a demonstrated record of innovation.
- Experienced in battery product assembly, cell stacking, and automation.
- Experienced in applying statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, ANOVA, Fishbones, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.)
- Possesses a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding of engineering and physical principles, mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, properties of materials.
- Proficiency in quality tools knowledge, as applied to new products, and robust process development including SPC, design of experiments and statistical analysis.
- Experienced in working with external vendors, subject matter experts and multi-functional teams to implement new processes and measurements.
- Motivated, hands on self-starter, with solid time management skills and strong process and data driven approach to the engineering process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to clearly and accurately explain technical issues
DESCRIPTION
• Develop, evaluate, and improve unit processes and manufacturing methods to enable battery cell designs to meet system design targets. • Plan, execute and analyze tests and experiments to evaluate processes and quantify properties and design parameters. • Work with external vendors to identify, customize and develop fabrication and assembly equipment and processes. • Evaluate and improve designs and processes using quality tools, design of experiments and statistical data analysis tools.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience MS in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related field preferred.
