Description:
arc programs is currently accepting applications for a Behaviour Consultant to join the Specialized Care team.
The Behaviour Consultant will provide training, clinical consultation and programming support for Program Coordinators and staff; conduct functional assessments, and create Personal Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP’s), and service plans for children and youth participating in the Specialized Care program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description.
- A Master’s degree in applied Behaviour Analysis or MEd in Special Education is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in applied Behaviour Analysis or Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (BSW / BA-Psychology / BA- CYC etc.) will be considered with experience directly related to working with Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) clients, such as:
- Behaviour Consultant or Intervention Services
- Child, youth and family services program
- Child and Youth Mental Health program
Other Skills and Attributes:
- Previous behaviour consultation experience, ideally supporting youth living in staffed resources.
- Clinical supervision experience.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of attachment-based theory.
- Well-versed in child development, developmental delays, neurodiversity, ASD, FASD and complex support needs.
- Demonstrated competencies in behaviour analytic assessment and intervention.
- Familiar with IHCAN assessments, and recommended interventions.
- Ability to establish trusting relationships with children, youth, and families / caregivers.
- Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License, and a sound personal vehicle to provide outreach support, and transportation for families when required.

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Behaviour Consultant will:
- Build strong, supportive relationships with the youth and their family / caregivers.
- Provide clinical oversight and consultation to Program Coordinators and staff.
- Conduct comprehensive Functional Behaviour Assessments to assess specific behavioral challenges and skill deficits.
- Write PBSP’s to address behavior challenges and skill deficits identified in Functional Assessments.
- Provide training and support to Program Coordinators and staff in the effective implementation of the child / youth’s PBSP and Individual Service Plans.
- Provide a range of support, training, and consultation to improve the youth’s development and functioning in activities of daily living, such as social emotional learning, language and communication, sleep health, sexual health, social skills, school, domestic skills and community / leisure / recreational engagement, and mental health.
- Demonstrate a high level of collaboration and cooperation with MCFD, involved service providers, Program Coordinators, and staff.
- Work closely with the Program Director to support best practices and effective service provision / operations in Specialized Care homes.
- Implement and maintain required case management and clinical records.
Other responsibilities include:
- Providing culturally safe and agile, trauma informed services.
- Applying an attachment-based and developmental practice lens.
