About the role
Are you ready for an exciting new opportunity in the Positive Behaviour Support industry? CPBS is seeking a casual Behaviour Therapist for our forward-thinking and dedicated team on the Gold Coast. The Behaviour Therapist will report to one of our Behaviour Support Practitioners and play a vital role in the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support programs for the clients. The work is based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support for children and adults in the home, community and school/workplace settings. This position will give the suitable applicant the opportunity to further develop their professional skills and experience within the NDIS sector.

What you’ll do

  • Engage the client in therapy within the community and their natural environments such as their home, school, workplace, and day placements
  • Provide direct behavioural interventions in individual and group sessions
  • Attend family team meetings and agency management meetings as required
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate commitment to client confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure all ethical procedures are sustained
  • Adhere to NDIS quality and safeguard commission requirements
  • Adhere to funding body requirements such as the NDIS
  • Timely and accurate documentation of incidents and plans
  • Accurate documentation of notes for each client session via clinical systems
  • Document and record accurate billing information and working hours using corporate systems
  • Attend regular clinical supervision meetings with senior management
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through conference attendances, reviewing professional publications and meeting all required continuing education credits

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

What you’ll need

  • Well developed oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated and effective time management skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and relationship building skills
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Ability to attain all mandatory compliance checks (NDIS Workers Screening Check, National Criminal History Check, WWCC/WWVP)
  • Willingness to undertake Registered Behaviour Technician Training Certification within 6 months of commencement of employment

  • Previous experience working with people who have disability or working in mental health
  • Working towards, or completion of a bachelor degree or post graduate qualifications related to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Exceptions made regarding qualifications for those with exceptional field experience
