Responsibilities:

WHAT’S THE ROLE?

To help keep people safe by observing the behaviours of airport users, interacting with them to identify potential suspicious activity, and where appropriate, refer suspicious behaviour to Gatwick police or other authority.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING?

  • Maintain a high level of vigilance in order to screen passengers, in particular, those passing through restricted areas, using Behavioural Detection training to prevent non-compliance.
  • Help in proactively identifying any potential criminal or terrorist related activity by interacting with passengers and checking identification and/or travel documents for all passengers as required, to resolve any behaviour or appearances deemed as suspicious.
  • Engaging with Gatwick Police, Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit (CTIU), Border Force, National Crime Agency (NCA) and any other appropriate authority, ensuring effective 2-way communication
  • Effectively communicating, demonstrating empathy and understanding to passengers whilst ensuring that security procedures as per training are followed in all cases, preventing unnecessary stress
  • To assist with emergency situations which could arise, supporting the business back to BAU.
  • Completing documentation, recording incidents and referrals in a clear and concise manner as required, to enable an effective audit process.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company Health and Safety Policies, taking personal responsibility for employing safe working practices to minimise risk to self, work colleagues and customers.
