As we continue to grow, we are currently seeking qualified candidates for PART TIME BELOW THE WING (BTW) TRAINING OFFICER in Fredericton, New Brunswick! This position is considered a leadership role within our training team, as the successful candidate helps build and foster the safe, detail driven environment that our partners expect.

JOB SUMMARY:

The BTW Training Officer works under the direction of the Senior Coordinator - BTW Training, and is an integral part of the overall Maintair Family. He/She will support and work alongside all areas of the company and foster the team atmosphere of Maintair. He/She ensures all BTW training is completed to required expectations, administers training courses and engages with Shift Leads and Supervisors to ensure all team members have the knowledge and tools required to perform their careers safely and properly. He/She will also fill vacant BTW Shift Lead positions, from time to time, to ensure hands-in skills are maintained. The BTW Training Officer will work closely with the ATW Training Officer to ensure all training files are kept current and up-to-date, in doing so being the accountable person to all BTW training standards. Training will be conducted according to specific company policies & procedures, including specific airline requirements, and includes Maintair specific courses. Quality customer service, airline operations, attention to detail, safety and team work are key components to be a successful Training Officer. Conflict resolution, human resource, safety and hands-on training are also required functions. The ideal candidate must possess solid leadership, multi-tasking and verbal/written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. He/She must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation, Canada Labour Code and Governmental requirements. The Training Officer represents Maintair, its customers, and staff, and as a result must present a professional, unwavering leadership character.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum College Diploma and/or University Degree with equivalent experience in airline operations.
  • Minimum 3 years previous airline operations/ground handling experience.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
  • Must have current Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Must have excellent team player competencies.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment working varied hours and on call.
  • Must be willing to travel to TTT sessions and professional development courses.
  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to communicate all concerns to senior management.
  • Must maintain a professional and experienced level of service with all Maintair customers.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office, Windows, and Proprietary computer programs.
  • Excellent keyboarding and admin skills are essential.
  • Must have excellent operational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, leadership and direction to a variety of internal and external bodies including: supervisors, staff, and other internal and external groups.
  • Report to direct reports on an as needed (daily) basis.
  • Report to client carriers on an as needed (daily) basis.
  • Ensure company policies are being adhered to, as well as governmental and airline policies.
  • Ensure company training budget and finance related targets are met.
  • Complete all in-class training for both BTW, GSE and Deep Clean Teams.
  • Arrange for, and coordinate required training assets (rooms, projectors etc.)
  • Ensure accurate training records for all team members in a central electronic database through coordination with the Training Officer (ATW & Admin).
  • Remain current in all air carrier policies and procedures.
  • Develop and update training courses as needed.
  • Updating internal operations requirements, including station audits.
  • Attend training seminars and train the trainer events.
  • Attend professional development courses as needed.
  • Teach, promote and engage in the company Safety Management Program (SMP).
  • Be available to travel on short or no notice.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned by client carriers.
