The Benefits Analyst is responsible for providing operational and analytical support to the Benefits area of Human Resources. Coordinate all aspects of employee benefits, and research and analysis as needed for routine and project-based tasks.

Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Acts as primary contact and interacts with employees regarding benefit questions
  • Process invoices to benefits providers/reconcile invoices to ensure accuracy
  • Research invoice disputes and resolve with vendors
  • Benefit arrears administration
  • Review off-cycle new enrollment and enrollment changes due to qualifying events
  • COBRA administration
  • Conduct new-hire benefits orientation
  • Process distribution requests to SEI for bill payments as needed for consulting and other services
  • Process employer match suspensions due to employee in-service withdrawals
  • Annual payment reconciliations in preparation for Form 5500 filings
  • Assist with reporting and data requests – pension valuations, internal controls, non-discrimination testing, Form 5500, etc.
  • Assist with annual 1095C forms via Ceridian
  • Review Benefits sections of the NJR Intranet on a regular basis to ensure accurate and up-to-date information
  • Coordinate execution of SERP contracts
  • Process life insurance claims
  • Assist with Benefit Administration Committee to set up meetings, agenda and mailings
  • Coordinate/track changes for retirees’ enrollments
  • Assist with annual open enrollment process
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree plus two years experience in benefits
  • Strong work ethic, highly organized and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Proven ability to handle multiple assignments and balancing changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of all MS Office applications, including strong excel skills and ability to adapt to new technology and processes
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently, as well as with a team
