Mater Pathology is looking for a Billing Officer to join the team for 6 months! Based at our South Brisbane campus, this role will report into the General Manager – Mater Pathology.
This role is responsible for the processing of overdue debts as part of the Pathology billing team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing. The role will be responsible for debt management.
The Billing Officer will work Pathology Billing Team to review, monitor and action overdue payments to ensure timely collection of outstanding debt.

• Ability to understand and interpret Medicare billing requirements
• High level of skills in the operation of a Laboratory Information System
• Processing of accounts and assist with the resolution of account queries for patient and Health Funds
• Liaise with patients, internal departments, Medical Consultants, Collectors, laboratory staff and external orgsniation relating to fees and charges
• Ability to present analysed results
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving
• Attention to detail
• Sound knowledge of pathology medicare rules and billing practices
• The application of initiative and judgment will be required for problem solving.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers at all times and be able to reflect this on the phone
