Description:

Bedrijf
Connecting health, science and society, Sciensano has more than 900 employees dedicated to human and animal health every day. As our name suggests, science and health are at the heart of our existence. Sciensano’s strength lies in its holistic and multidisciplinary approach to health. Our focus is on the close and inseparable relationship between human and animal health, and their environment (the “One health” concept). Therefore, we combine multiple perspectives in our research to uniquely contribute to everyone’s health. For this, Sciensano can build on more than 100 years of scientific expertise of the former Center for Research in Veterinary Medicine and Agrochemistry (CODA) and the former Scientific Institute of Public Health (WIV). Functiebeschrijving
You will provide bioinformatic support for the execution of different European projects in the field of toxicology.
You will join the service Risk and Health Impact Assessment of the Scientific Direction ‘Chemical and Physical Health Risks’, and the service ‘Transversal Activities in Applied Genomics’ from the Scientific Direction ‘Biological health risks’, and will work in close collaboration with scientists from different European universities and research centers.
You will use your expertise in bioinformatics to explore the use of transcriptomics data to support regulatory decision making and to contribute to the development of Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs). More specifically, you will analyze transcriptomics data collected with multiple technologies (e.g. RNA-Seq, TempO-Seq,…) by applying different bioinformatics approaches (e.g. benchmark dose modelling, gene-set-enrichment analysis, data clustering approaches,…).
You will investigate how the data can be used to support the development of AOPs, the design of integrated approaches to testing and assessment (IATA), read-across and derivation of point of departures for risk assessment.
You will work closely together with other scientists and participate in project meetings.
