POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a bioinformatician to assist in the development of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools and approaches related to genomics research projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc or MSc in bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline; additional background in genetics/molecular biology is a strong asset.
  • Ability to work with and interpret large-scale genomics data sets
  • Solid programming skills and experience
  • Strong communication and writing skills; results of this research work will be published and communicated within our group and the larger scientific community.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Responsibilities:

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Work as part of a team to create novel analytical tools;
  • Answer biologically motivated questions by developing and executing methods to interpret genetic variant data;
  • Experiment with published tools made available by the larger bioinformatics, ML and AI communities;
  • Validate and assess the accuracy of your work by producing statistics/comparing results to publicly available benchmark datasets.
