Description:

The Histology department is seeking to appoint a permanent Biomedical Scientist following an internal promotion to join our team on a part-time, permanent basis. If successful, you will rotate through specimen reception, dissection and embedding, microtomy, special stains, exports and immunohistochemistry.
Our laboratory is ISO15189 accredited, and the department as a whole is well-equipped and provides HER-2FISH testing. We typically process around 25,000 histology requests and 4,000 non gynae specimens annually.
We welcome applications from all those who are interested in this post.
As a Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist, you will be involved in the delivery of our diagnostic service. You will prepare and process diagnostic investigations on biological specimens in accordance with agreed protocols and standard operational procedures (SOP), and will utilise the experience you have gained through training to work autonomously in all aspects of laboratory practise in the Histology department.
In addition, you will be responsible for training and supervising junior staff, reviewing SOPs and equipment, and ensuring the department maintains UKAS and HTA accreditations as well as laboratory training status.
This is an exciting time for PAHT. Over the next five years we are on a digital transformation journey, leading us to our brand new hospital . You’ll be part of the team leading and supporting our organisation in a diverse and challenging role; a role which can make a significant difference to our patients, staff and the future direction of our services.
Our people demonstrate energy and commitment towards improving the care and experiences provided to our patients and the drive to be an ‘outstanding’ organisation.
It’s never been a better time to join us.
