JOB POSTING DESCRIPTION

This Biostatistician will be responsible for:

  • Providing statistical expertise on the design of study case report forms and databases. Responsible for statistical aspects of study design, including sample size calculations and randomization schemes
  • Working with investigators and other statisticians to select appropriate statistical methods and to analyze data including identifying data inconsistencies from laboratory, interventional, and observational studies
  • Participating in meetings with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful completion of statistical deliverables
  • Preparing statistical reports and collaborates with study team to prepare abstracts and manuscripts
  • Understanding the need to be responsive to and communicate effectively with colleagues and study team members whether by phone, email or in person. Communicating appropriately, timely, and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Understanding the objectives of a study and ensuring that the statistical design matches the overall goals of the study
  • Assisting with the teaching of statistical programming to clinical staff, trainees, and other BCH employees

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or a closely related quantitative field
  • 1-5 years of experience in a research setting
  • Proficiency in a statistical programming package such as SAS, R or Stata
  • Strong skills in data analysis and the effective presentation of results
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
