This is a one-year position, funded through a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The individual will work closely with the principal investigators, a large team of co-investigators, as well as other Research Coordinators within the team and community collaborators. The successful candidate for this position will offer statistical analysis support to the overall Women and HIV Research program. The successful individual may support statistical analyses related to a new research program objective that will centre African, Caribbean and Black women living with/affected by HIV, as well as a trauma- and violence-aware care study amongst women living with HIV. There may be opportunities for future analyses as well.
Specifically, we are looking for an individual with quantitative research experience who will assist the team in continuing to advance the work done with and for women living with HIV. The candidate should have experience with community-based research, quantitative analysis, comfort with a highly independent work environment, and interest in following an integrated knowledge translation process.

Summary of Duties:

  • Use design and statistical expertise to assist the researcher with all steps of the research process including the development of research protocols and strategies
  • Help design and evaluate new projects, assess feasibility of proposed work and plans and analyze data
  • Advise on matters concerning data and data collection; provide support materials such as randomization lists and reliability assessments
  • Advise on data analysis and communicate results to the investigator
  • Assist in writing grant proposals, graphics, papers and manuscripts for publication, particularly as it pertains to data analysis
  • Assist with ethics applications and renewal submissions
  • Create data collection plan using statistical models and coordinate necessary data flow both internally and externally with collaborators
  • Develop and maintain databases and registries
  • Participate in research analysis

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology or a relevant field (e.g., Clinical Epidemiology, Health Economics, or other health-related discipline)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years progressively responsible experience working in clinical epidemiology, health economics, or other health-related discipline in a quantitative research environment
  • Proficiency and experience with administrative data sets and with statistical analysis using statistical software
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following statistical packages: SASS, STRATA, SPSS, r, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical and epidemiological concepts, such as multi-level modelling and cluster-randomized trial design and power calculations
  • Experience with the Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort study considered an asset
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work fully independently as well as in collaboration with others where necessary
  • Strong multi-tasking, time and project management skills
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
