SALARY

Body/Coach Builder Apprenticeship
Body / Coach Builder
How The Apprenticeship Works
Our industry-recognised Engineering apprenticeship schemes are a great way to kick-start your career. Our Body Coach Builder Apprenticeship will give you the knowledge and skills to become a world-class engineer, accomplish your career and financial goals, and give you a trade for life.
Unlike schemes at other companies, the Stagecoach Apprenticeship Scheme will give you unlimited support, with a dedicated mentor throughout the 4 years. You will meet regularly with Managers and Engineering Directors for advice and guidance, and start the course with a comprehensive toolkit.
You can join one of our apprenticeship programs at several locations across the UK, starting in August or September each year. Wherever you learn, you will complete the same tasks regardless of your fleet’s vehicle profile - giving you the same opportunities as all other candidates.
What you can expect to learn:
The Body Coach Builder Apprenticeship course is brilliantly varied and will give you a comprehensive understanding of the role and key responsibilities, including:
— Health and Safety
— Tools & equipment
— Welding, glazing and painting
— Removing and refitting body panels
— Repairing damage to body panels
— Interior repairs, including rectifying damage to seats and flooring
— Vehicle preparation and masking for painting
Alongside practical, hands-on learning, you will also attend a specialised training college in Glasgow. Here, you’ll work towards achieving either the Bus or Coach Engineering Technician Standard.
The fourth and final year is a bespoke, award-winning program crafted by Stagecoach UK Bus, endorsed and certified by the Institute of the Motor Industry. You will be paired with an experienced mentor to provide guidance and support as you consolidate your technical skills.
Upon successful completion, you will be eligible for membership at the Society of Operations Engineers, further enriching your professional journey.
The Benefits You Can Expect
Many of our Stagecoach Engineering Directors and Managers began their careers as apprentices - and this could well be your career trajectory shortly.
Beyond the great feeling of earning while learning and obtaining your industry-recognised qualifications, there’s a heap of additional benefits that Stagecoach offers:
— You’ll receive a competitive salary, a generous pension, and opportunities for overtime.
— You’ll get membership to the Society of Operations Engineers upon completion of your apprenticeship.
— Stagecoach will give you job security for life and the confidence in your career to plan your future.
— As soon as you join Stagecoach, you’ll receive a great range of benefits and perks on top of your salary. These include discounts on high street brands, restaurants, hotels, days out, and cinema visits.
— You’ll get a minimum of 28 days paid holiday and free Stagecoach bus travel for you and a companion.
What Do You Need To Apply
To successfully apply to join an engineering apprenticeship, you will need:
— A genuine interest in engineering
— Three GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 or above
— Standard grades 1 - 3
— National 4 or 5 in English Language, Mathematics and Science
— or equivalent qualifications.
