Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, and producing various financial reports and payroll. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred BCom Financial Accounting or National Diploma in Finance/Bookkeeping or equivalent
  • 3 years’ work experience as a bookkeeper
  • Understanding of accounting best practices
  • Knowledge and experience in payroll (confidentiality)
  • Sage experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, advanced excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skill with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadline
  • Able to work overtime when required i.e. month end and year end
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality

Responsibilities:

This job profile is not an exclusive list of responsibilities and could be changed from time to time per business requirements.

  • Processing of all invoices, payments, accruals, provisions and journals for a group of companies
  • Ensure that all payments and receipts are accurate and timeously actioned so that all financial accounting transactions the team is responsible for are reflected in the trial balance
  • Electronic banking – this will involve loading suppliers, making payments, internal transfers on banking system
  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly, reconciliation on accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank, petty cash, intercompany transactions and all other balance sheet items
  • Updating the asset register and ensuring that depreciation journals are accurately reflected
  • Assistance with month-end/year-end reporting
  • Processing of payroll and payroll journals
  • Submission of monthly, bi-annual and annual statutory returns (EMP 201 -PAYE, UIF, SDL and IRP5)
  • Preparation of monthly VAT returns and submission thereof on e-filing (SARS)
  • General assistance on the Financial Audit
  • Act as liaison with Bank – relationship, account management, etc.
  • Ad hoc accounting duties
