Description:

As an integral member of the Hope North Recovery Services team, provides short-term services to children/youth and/or their
families and supports. Individual and group work will be facilitated to build capacity of youth and their caregivers to manage crisis
and improve overall wellbeing. Services will be goal directed, short-term and solution focused with a strong emphasis on offering
flexible services that meet the needs of youth and their families.
Provides services that are recovery oriented and based on the principles of connectedness, hope, identity, meaningfulness and
empowerment. They will strive to improve access and ensures that the services provided to clients are recovery-oriented as defined
by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Will follow protocols for assessment and discharge of children and youth at risk of
suicide put forth by the Province of Manitoba.
Will participate in assertive outreach to the communities of the Northern Health Region (NHR), taking opportunities to offer
education and presentations to individuals, families, communities to raise awareness of services and supports, to increase skills and
capacity, to decrease stigma associated with mental health difficulties, to promote strategies for positive mental health, to promote
community based suicide prevention initiatives and to promote the services available through Hope North Recovery Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Social Work; Registered Psychiatric Nurse (other qualifications directly related and experience may be

considered)

  • Current active registration with the applicable registry body
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training an asset
  • Current certification from a recognized Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), or obtain within three (3) months of

commencing employment

  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class V driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Two (2) years directly related experience within the past five (5) years
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of mental health issues, mental health systems and services
  • Demonstrated assessment and crisis intervention skills with broad knowledge of urgent mental health and crisis

stabilization services

  • Familiar with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
  • Satisfactory employment record required
  • Successful candidate subject to provide security checks in accordance with Security Checks for Employment Policy (HR-02-
