We are seeking a R&D Build Technician III on a permanent basis to join us on our mission.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- HETEC Level 7 180 credits in a relevant STEM discipline. 5+ years relevant experience.
- SolidWorks experience essential – Proficient in basic 3D solid modelling.
- Proven hands-on experience in project builds.
- Mechanical design knowledge essential, proven projects.
- Use of 3D Printers – Experience with one or all of the following, FDM, SLS, Stereolithography technologies. Passion in the maintenance, upkeep, nesting and running of 3D printers.
- Microsoft Office Suite Competency – PowerPoint skillset.
- Presentation skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication.
- Comfortable and effective in a highly collaborative environment.
- Be able to work in a team and on their own initiative.
- Full EU passport.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Experience with broad range of Solidworks capabilities.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes.
- SolidCam knowledge (G Code generation).
- Sketching capability is also desirable.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE:
Responsible for the support in running, upkeep, maintenance and service of the 3D printers, waterjet and laser etcher on site. Job is full time on site assisting engineers with full prototype builds. Ordering of spares/consumables and scheduling builds by utilizing the right technologies for the build at hand. 3D modelling to support production and modifying existing parts is key to success of projects with tight deadlines. Planning builds and organising service intervals for all machines with our third-party external vendors is an essential requisite.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work as part of a team to develop a robust product design.
- Read component drawings/sketches and reverse engineer components.
- Understand the need for and use of quality control systems in documentation control.
- Assist in creation of test methods to measure critical design requirements.
- Assist in the selection of appropriate process technologies to ensure successful component creation.
- Create and edit basic CAD Solid models.
- Manage print package deliverables in PDM (creation of part numbers for primary content files and Spec Maps etc.).
- Support 3D printing team in all aspects of 3D printing.
- Hands on post processing, prototype construction and procurement.
- Post processing of 3D prints with meticulous eye for detail.
- Overseeing manufacturing technologies such as water/laser jet cutting and laser etching.
