QUALIFICATIONS

This National Building Contractor are a multi award winning company with one of the most impressive portfolios of construction projects in Australia, encompassing mission critical, commercial, health, industrial, education, heritage, commercial and hospitality projects. They are looking for a Building Services Manager initially to work on a $250M mission critical project.
The key component of this role is to take overall responsibility for the management of building services related design challenges on major construction projects and provide technical expertise across the services disciplines.
Your duties will include working with the Construction Manager in the management of the design and delivery of projects. You will be responsible for managing building services consultants and subcontractors and for obtaining statutory certification. You will lead the preparation of subcontracts scope of works, identify risks in relation to building services, manage drawings, monitor progress, and consult with authorities.
You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all building services, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and essential services on projects many of which will become iconic Australian buildings. The Company is committed to environmentally sustainable design principles and work with clients who also embrace these ideals and so it is essential that you are committed to the same principles.
Ideally you will have already gained considerable experience with a building contractor or a large subcontractor for a significant proportion of your career. You must be able to demonstrate experience within the fields of construction management, design management, planning, services design, and liaison with authorities.
You will be comfortable working on site on major mission critical projects ensuring OH&S and environmental issues are dealt with efficiently. You will also have the capability to produce design solutions and innovative approaches to solving problems related to building services issues.
It will be your responsibility to demonstrate leadership skills and be a true team player. The ideal applicant will have tertiary qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering or a trade qualification. Direct experience of the installation, maintenance and testing of essential building services; mechanical, electrical, fire and hydraulic is necessary, with an understanding that working knowledge will be more proficient in some areas than others.
