We have a new opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our team, based at our Head Office in Leith, Edinburgh.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

As this is a newly created role within a small, busy team, we require someone with relevant and current or recent experience in a similar role. It is important that the person who joins us in this role can work as part of a team, as well as having the capacity to work and act on their own initiative. This role will also involve working closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders, therefore strong, effective communication and interpersonal skills are also key.

Additionally we are looking for:

  • MRICS Qualified (Building Surveying pathway).
  • At least 2+ years of post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Possessing thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the industry, together with solid terminology knowledge for the construction sector.
  • Good problem-solving skills and commercially minded.
  • Ability to work alone and to take on assignments and see them through to completion.
  • Full clean, UK driving license and own vehicle is essential

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will have a varied role, working closely with our established Property team to provide comprehensive building surveying services across the Scottish Operational Estate and Property Assets.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Undertaking dilapidations surveys, due diligence surveys, building pathology inspections and regular Property Inspections in line with Estate Management best practice.
  • Undertaking Schedule of Condition surveys
  • Advise on environmental, health and safety issues of Port and Property assets, including buildings and infrastructure.
  • Reinstatement cost assessments.
  • Contractor Management including full compliance with CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) preparation, review and advice as required.
  • Project Management of various ongoing construction works and standalone projects.
  • Undertaking building inspections and assist the wider Property and Asset Management team with managing and maintaining Asset Risk Register.
  • Liaising with lawyers on estate management documents e.g. rent reviews, Licences for Works or similar as required.
  • Day to day support for the Property team and wider Scottish Operation.
