Description:

Along with optimizing game development engines, developing infrastructure and workflows for efficient remote and hybrid development, brings new opportunities and engineering challenges that all studios are facing today. Solving these challenges is critical to enabling efficient hybrid teams, as well as external globally distributed development partners who help scale during peak phases of development. At The Coalition Studio, through our work on the acclaimed Gears of War franchise, we are tackling these problems head-on by leading engine innovation, developing technical showcase technologies, and delivering world class workflows, tools and features that are adopted across the wider Xbox Game Studios organization.
As a Builds & Automation Engineer at The Coalition, you will become an integral part of our top-tier Engine and Game Development team. You should possess proficient C# skills, a good understanding of C++, experience working with different source control solutions such as Perforce and Git, along with effective problem-solving abilities. You possess a versatile skill set and enthusiasm for immersing yourself in the diverse realms of game development technologies and tools, demonstrating a keen appetite for continuous learning and adaptation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year Unreal Engine experience in gaming industry
  • 1+ year experience working with TeamCity, Jenkins, or other CI/CD solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement well crafted, high-efficiency automated build pipelines specifically designed to meet the demands of large-scale distributed AAA game development projects.
  • Profiling the performance of automated builds across a spectrum of pipelines and tools.
  • Play an instrumental role in the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing upkeep of our build and automation infrastructure.
  • Collaborating closely with Engine Leads, Producers, and developer counterparts from other Xbox Game Studios.
  • Research and investigation into innovative technologies, evaluating their potential to enhance and optimize our automated pipelines.
