KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a distribution, acquisition and/ or broadcast Business Affairs and/ or Rights environment is essential.
- Experience in maintaining and interrogating databases, in particular experience in rights management systems (such as RT, Rightsline or Easytrack) is also essential.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Legal background or University degree or recognised qualification is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
Cineflix Rights is currently seeking to recruit a Business Affairs & Rights Executive on a full-time basis, based in our London office on a hybrid schedule. Reporting to the Head of Rights Management & Reporting, Cineflix Media, this person will work closely with the production, sales, finance and legal teams in administering production rights, sales licences & distribution agreements, ensuring all are accurately reflected in Cineflix’s databases, assisting with the generation of availability reports for the Sales Team and assisting the Business Affairs deal with the conclusion of sales licences on approved templates based on Cineflix’s pro forma.
KEY DUTIES
Working within a small team located in our London & Dublin office the Business Affairs & Rights Executive will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Interpreting Deal Memos supplied by Sales Executives and accurately enter the sales licence terms (rights, finance & materials etc) onto Cineflix’s rights management system (“Rightstracker”,”RT”).
- Perform rights & conflict checks on all proposed sales and upon receiving sales Deal Memos, advise the sales & legal teams of any issues that arise and solutions if appropriate.
- Prepare and issue standard sales licences contracts from a system generated template, ensure that they accurately reflect instructions issued by the Sales Department on the Deal Memo and negotiate through to execution.
- Interpret distribution agreements (DA) and dubbing agreements acquiring third party producer content/ language and accurately enter the distribution rights granted to Cineflix together with any clearance restrictions, approval rights & talent/ access costs set out in the same and as advised by Cineflix Productions.
- Proactively track programmes through the production and sales cycle ensuring key dates such as airdates/ acceptance of materials are accurately maintained and provide updated avails information at key milestones and options tracked.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing departments around CR’s launch and market schedules to ensure that they have the necessary rights & programme info for these events.
- Service rights queries from finance, legal, sales and other executives in a timely manner.
- Assist on ad hoc projects such as further development of system, contract revisioning and new system implementations.
