About the role
The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for understanding business aims and requirements; and translating those needs into IT requirements which clearly state the functional needs and alignment to the Council’s processes and direction of travel.
You will be responsible for analysing and documenting ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ business processes; contributing to options analyses and facilitating necessary change across an organisational-wide programme of work.

In the context set out above, main areas of responsibility include:

• Understanding the purpose of business units to enable clear definition of business requirements
• Understanding and defining business processes
• Understanding capabilities of technology and software that support, or could potentially support efficient business processes
• Establishing credible, professional relationships with stakeholders across business units, as well as decision-makers and budget holders
• Providing appropriate, specialist challenge to the design of systems and processes
• Supporting and enabling business change

The Business Analysis Team are supporting an organisation-wide transformation programme, focused on maintaining quality service provision by the most efficient means. In this role, you will be involved in projects and areas of work concerning our key line of business processes and applications, across the whole organisation. The scope and nature of our involvement will be sculpted by the business requirement. Imperative across all projects is building rapport to ensure full understanding of business needs; and enable decision-making that is most effective.
