POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Analyst (BA) plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between Data Science and the business by assessing processes, determining requirements, and delivering data-driven recommendations and reports to the product team, executives, and stakeholders.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong ability to analyze data, understand business operations, and solve complex problems
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies, software development life cycle (SDLC), and business process modeling
  • Knowledge of basic scripting languages - bash, R, and/or Python
  • Basic familiarity with Data Science concepts and algorithms - regression, time series analysis, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related quantitative field
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (such as CBAP) can be advantageous
  • Previous experience in business analysis or a related field
  • Familiarity with specific industries can be beneficial
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working closely with our Performance and Results Analyst, interpreting our internal reports as they relate to our statistical models, and providing recommendations
  • Working closely with our Data Scientists, focus on finding trends in our modeling data and developing recommendations to improve our statistical models
  • Working with Product to document analysis to gather and confirm business requirements
  • Analyze and document the functional and business requirements in detailed reports, diagrams, and models (such as flowcharts and wireframes) that are understandable for both business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Evaluate multiple solutions to ensure they meet business needs and requirements
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize requirements and identify the best-fit solutions
  • Act as a liaison between the business units, technology teams, and support teams
  • Communicate key insights and findings to teams
  • Assist with project management tasks such as project planning, monitoring, and reporting
  • Ensure that solutions meet the business needs and requirements Product has outlined
  • Work with Product to facilitate the implementation of new or improved business processes and systems
  • Support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption
  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes; assist the Data Science team in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • 0-2 years experience; this is an entry-level role
  • Experience with Tableau or other Business Intelligence tools
  • Work well in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong Excel math skills (vlookups, simple formulas, and pivot tables)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Sense of humor and a positive attitude
  • Be flexible and adapt to change quickly
  • Work well in a team and independently
  • Highly technology literate and proficient Mac user
