SUMMARY OF POSITION

Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network (“PCN”) is a group of family physicians and health care professionals in northwest Calgary and Cochrane, collaborating with Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone to deliver the best possible primary care. Calgary Foothills PCN has established a team environment where individuals are encouraged to take initiative, be creative and contribute to ongoing decision-making.
The Business Analyst/Project Manager reports to the Associate Executive Director. The role is responsible for overall business analysis and project management of major PCN projects, planning activities for smaller projects and supporting PCN staff and managers in applying basic project management methodology in their work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in business or computer science
  • Project management, business analysis, quality improvement or other industry certifications are desirable
  • Alternatively, an appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • RFQ/RFP knowledge
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR’s) is an asset
  • Health care experience and knowledge of clinic workflow and process improvement an asset

Responsibilities:

Key aspects of the position may include, but are not limited to:

Business analysis:

  • Perform requirements gathering and analysis to include analytical techniques, interview techniques, data gathering techniques, current system documentation, business modeling methods, business process, rules and logic, data gathering to solve complex issues, development of implementation plans and key analytical troubleshooting
  • Act as subject matter expert for workflows, technical integrations and analysis
  • Develop and implement test plans/scenarios to ensure successful delivery of a project
  • Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during project delivery
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e., day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
  • Develop training materials, facilitate and provide training sessions
  • Troubleshoot, assess the root cause of issues and implement solutions
  • Work with management teams to determine IT objectives that will improve business outcomes
  • Develop and analyze functional specifications
  • Gather feedback from end users about system performance and usability
  • Work closely with the application programmers to design solutions based on requirements and scope of work

Project management:

  • Develop, manage and lead various projects to include development and management of project plans, define and deliver individual project deliverables as a part of the overall program deliverables, manage the expectations of all stakeholders, manage all project relationships, manage project teams in delivering the projects, communicate and manage tasks in alignment to a schedule with the team and provide feedback to team members as appropriate
  • Effectively manage smaller project efforts to include: project plan, scope/budget/resource management, time management (activities and task planning), communications, risk management, issue and change log management, Quality Assurance and testing, user training, ongoing maintenance and support
  • Coach and mentor PCN management and staff in acquiring and applying basic project management skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Other responsibilities as required
