The Scottish Public Pensions Agency is an Agency of the Scottish Government. Our principal role is to administer the pensions for employees in the National Health Service, Teachers,’ Police and Fire-fighters’ pension schemes in Scotland. The Agency administers these public service pension schemes on behalf of Scottish Ministers with an annual pension spend to over 200,000 pensioners of more than £2.5 billion.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As a Business Analyst (BA) you will lead small to medium sized projects and supports larger and more complex projects. You will manage stakeholder relationships, work independently, and have a good understanding of your own work area. You will advance the BA community through sharing of best practice and mentoring others.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for delivering strategic and tactical business analysis services for SPPA.
  • Assist in the delivery of internal and external business operations and processes.
  • Engaging effectively with users and customer representatives to generate high quality research. Documents and shares the outcomes of user research.
  • Assisting project managers with planning and scheduling.
  • Identify future needs and create solutions, usually (but not always) in relation to information and software systems.
  • Validate and verify requirements – making sure that all requirements map to the business need being addressed, they are approved by all the appropriate stakeholders and that they meet with relevant quality standards.
  • Collaborate across departments when establishing requirements and impacting change.
  • Identifying system and process design changes by conducting business and system analysis at a detailed level, using robust tools and approaches.
  • Contribute to the Agency continuous improvement approach and evaluating and incorporating improvement suggestions into projects
