Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Performance, the Business Analyst is responsible for supporting various areas of the organization in researching, coordinating, and implementing process and systems improvements to increase operational effectiveness and service delivery. The Business Analyst supports the implementation of the County Strategic Plan through the development of performance measurement systems, processes, and reporting. The Business Analyst will collaborate across the organization to promote continuous improvement.
Core Accountabilities

Business & Performance Systems

  • Analyze and document business processes using various techniques, such as flow diagrams and use cases.
  • Research, investigate, identify, and provide recommendations for business operations needs/outcomes and recommend solutions to business problems.
  • Facilitate workshops to validate, analyze and design processes with key stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Support clients in performance metric development in alignment with the County Strategic Plan and key performance indicators.

General

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail, organizational, as well as prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Strong research, strategic planning, analytical, problem solving, and decision‐making skills.
  • Ability to establish effective, collaborative, working relationships and an ability to build trust with staff across all levels of the organization.
  • Aptitude in preparing analytical documentation (diagramming, flowcharts, analysis, findings, recommendations, reports, presentations).
  • Ability to apply and implement systems thinking.
  • Ability to simplify and convey complex business/technology concepts to stakeholders.

Position Requirements

Completion of Degree in Business, Social Science, or a related field along with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Business Analysis or a related field with experience in business planning, business process improvement, performance measurement, and project management

  • Experience working in a municipal environment, information systems/technology background, and LEAN Certification would be considered assets.
  • A track record of following through on commitments.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Work in accordance with the requirements established by the RVC Health and Safety Program and the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation and Code.
  • Take reasonable care to protect their health and safety and other persons at or in the vicinity of the worksite while they are working.
